This section also ensures that all utility-related procurements and management practices comply with the Financial and Stores Order. Effective immediately, all requests for utility services must be submitted via a formal memorandum from your ministry/department to the Utilities Section. The complete requirements for each of these services, including all necessary documentation and information, are attached to this memorandum. The following information must be provided based on the type of request. Incomplete submissions will be rejected without action. Finance Officers and Administrative Officers are hereby directed to ensure that all meter numbers and account numbers provided in any request are precise, verified, and accurate. Errors in these identifiers are the single most common cause of processing delays, misdirected billings, and financial discrepancies. To allow sufficient time for internal vetting, screening, and coordination with external utility providers, all requests must be submitted to this office at least one month prior to the desired effective date. This lead time is mandatory for the Utilities Section to perform its due diligence and for providers to assess and act upon the request. This office will no longer entertain, approve, or process any utility service requests made months after ministry personnel have occupied a rental premises. All requests must be submitted before occupancy. Retroactive requests create significant financial and compliance risks for the Government of Belize and will be summarily declined.
