Editor's Note

Editor s note ' Dear Children, Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu, The blessed month of Ramadan is approaching; a time of immense significance in Islam. Every year, Ramadan comes into our lives, bringing with it an opportunity for spiritual growth, self-discipline, and devotion. During this sacred month, we fast from dawn to dusk, engage in extra prayers, increase our acts of charity, and strive to strengthen our connection with Allah (SWT). As children, you may wonder: Why is Ramadan so important for Muslims? What is the purpose of fasting? Allah (SWT) loves us deeply and desires that we lead righteous lives. To guide us, He sent many messengers to show us the right path. The final messenger, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), received the ultimate divine revelation, the Holy Qur'an in the month of Ramadan. This event made Ramadan even more special, and Allah (SWT) commanded in the Qur'an that those who witness this month must observe fasting. Fasting is one of the most profound acts of worship. It is not just about refraining from food and drink but about achieving piety (taqwa) and sincerity in our devotion to Allah (SWT). One day, dear children, fasting will become obligatory for you as well. Until then, you should learn about its significance and begin practicing gradually. When you understand the true purpose of fasting, you will come to love this sacred act of worship, one that exists solely between you and your Creator. EDITORIAL TEAM May this Ramadan bring us closer to Allah (SWT), elevate SHAIKH IRSHAD MUSSA (EDITOR-IN-CHIEF) us spiritually, and strengthen our faith. FIRDAUS SHAIKH Ramadan Mubarak! THE BLESSED RAMADAN By Maryam Hibah, Margao T he Meaning and History of Ramadan: A Gift from God Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and is considered the holiest month in Islam. During this month, the Quran was revealed to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) as guidance for humanity. The first verses of the Quran were revealed on Laylatul Qadr (The Night of Decree), one of the last ten nights of Ramadan. This marked the beginning of Prophet Muhammad’s mission to spread the message of Islam. From that time on, Ramadan became a sacred month of fasting, prayer, and devotion. Muslims have observed Ramadan for over 1,400 years, following the traditions set by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Today, Ramadan is practiced by over 1.9 billion Muslims worldwide, bringing people together in worship, kindness, and gratitude. Once again, it’s time when families gather every evening for a meal filled with love and gratitude. A time when kindness spreads like sunshine, prayers bring peace, and every good deed carries extra blessings. That special time is Ramadan, a month that Muslims around the world cherish deeply. Ramadan is more than just fasting. It is a time of spiritual reflection, self-discipline, and closeness to God. It teaches patience, generosity, and the importance of gratitude. But what makes Ramadan so special? Why do Muslims fast? And what can we all learn from this beautiful month? Let’s explore! Why Do Muslims Fast? Fasting is an act of obedience to God, but it also carries deeper lessons. When a person fasts, they experience hunger and thirst, just like those who don’t have enough food every day. This feeling creates empathy and reminds Muslims to be thankful for their blessings. It also trains self-discipline, teaching people to control their tempers, avoid bad habits, and develop patience and kindness. By focusing on prayer, charity, and self-improvement, fasting becomes a way to cleanse the soul and renew one’s faith. A Month of Spiritual Training Think of Ramadan like a training camp for the soul. Just as athletes train for a big game, Muslims use this month to practice self-control, kindness, and devotion to God. During Ramadan, Muslims work on breaking bad habits, improving their character, and strengthening their relationship with God. The idea is that these good habits should continue even after Ramadan ends, making people more patient, generous, and mindful throughout the year. Treasures of Taare Zameen Par | 5 | February, 2025

THE REWARDS OF RAMADAN: Blessings Beyond Measure One of the most amazing things about Ramadan is that every good deed carries extra rewards. Whether it’s helping someone in need, smiling at a stranger, or saying a kind word, everything counts more during this month. A very special night in Ramadan is Laylatul Qadr (The Night of Decree). This night is believed to be better than a thousand months, meaning that a single act of worship on this night is equal to over 83 years of good deeds! Muslims stay up late in prayer, seeking God’s mercy and guidance. THE SPIRIT OF GIVING: Charity Ramadan is not just about self-improvement, it’s also about helping others. One of the key lessons of Ramadan is giving to those in need. Muslims are encouraged to share their blessings by giving zakat (mandatory charity) and sadaqah (voluntary charity). The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: ”The best of people are those who are most beneficial to others.” Whether it’s feeding the hungry, donating money, or helping someone in need, acts of kindness bring happiness, fulfillment, and countless rewards. RAMADAN AND FAMILY: Strengthening Bonds and Creating Memories Ramadan is also a time for family and community. Every evening, after a long day of fasting, Muslims gather for iftar, the meal to break the fast. These moments bring love, laughter, and a deep sense of gratitude. In the last ten days of Ramadan, many Muslims increase their prayers, seek forgiveness, and reflect on their journey of faith. Families often pray together, share stories, and strengthen their bonds, creating memories that last a lifetime. RAMADAN: A Journey of Self-Discovery At its heart, Ramadan is about becoming the best version of yourself. It’s about finding inner peace, growing spiritually, and building good habits that last beyond the month. Muslims believe that during Ramadan, the doors of Heaven are open, the gates of Hell are closed, and the devils are chained. This makes it easier to focus on doing good and seeking forgiveness for past mistakes. February, 2025 | 6 | Treasures of Taare Zameen Par A Month to Cherish, A Lesson for Life Ramadan is more than just fasting, it’s a month of love, renewal, and transformation. It teaches us to appreciate what we have, give to those in need, and reflect on our purpose in life. For Muslims, Ramadan is a precious gift, a time to reset, refresh, and reconnect with God and loved ones. The lessons learned in Ramadan don’t end when the month is over, they stay in the heart, shaping how we live the rest of the year. May Ramadan bring peace, joy, and endless blessings to all who observe it. And for those who do not, may its lessons of gratitude, kindness, and self-reflection inspire a positive change in everyone’s hearts.

The Blessings of Quran By Madeeha Khan More than 1400 years ago, on a night brighter than any other, the Quran was sent down as a gift from Allah to light up our hearts. It is not just any book; it is full of stories, wisdom, and words that bring peace and happiness. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) once said, ”The Quran is a banquet from Allah, so learn as much as you can from it.” Imagine a table full of goodness waiting for us to take a bite. A MONTH OF LIGHT Do you know which month is closely connected with the Quran? Ramadan. It was in this blessed month that the first words of the Quran were revealed. Allah says in the Quran, ”The month of Ramadan is that in which was revealed the Quran, a guidance for the people.” (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:185) That is why, during Ramadan, we try to read more Quran, listen to its beautiful recitation, and let its wisdom fill our hearts. MAKING THE QURAN YOUR FRIEND The Quran is not just for grown-ups; it is for little hearts too. Here are some simple ways to make it a part of your day: A Page a Day: Read a few lines before bedtime, like a gentle story. Listen with Love: Enjoy listening to its recitation while you draw or play. Learn a Little, Every Day: Start with short surahs like Surah Al-Fatiha or Surah Al-Ikhlas. Ask and Wonder: If something is unclear, ask questions and discover more. A BOOK THAT SPEAKS FOR YOU The Quran is not only words on a page; it is a friend who stays with you forever. On the Day of Judgment, it will come to speak for those who read it. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Recite the Quran, for it will come as an intercessor for its companions." (Sahih Muslim) Imagine standing before Allah and hearing the Quran say, "This person loved me, read me, and lived by me." That is a very special thought.
